Company Overview:
CDNow is one of the leading online music retailers, and offers one of the most established music affiliate programs available called the CDNow Cosmic Credit program. They have recently merged with Music Boulevard to create one online music store. This also carries over to both affiliate programs, which were similar before, but have no also merged.
Program Details:
With both companies being leaders in the online music field, your visitors will have good brand-recognition of the program, leading to more trust in the merchant at the time of purchase. However it also means that you will be competing with thousands of other affiliates, and many of your visitors may already be aware of these programs, and choose to browse later without linking from your site. As an affiliate, you have the option of choosing to earn in-store credit to be applied to your own CD purchases, or to earn cash. If you choose cash, you will need to accumulate $100 in commissions before receiving a check (sent quarterly). If you choose credit, you can redeem your commissions at any time. The base commission is 7%, with the ability to earn higher percentages based on each months sales. For example, if you refer between $500 to $1500 in sales, you will earn 8%. For very large sites, commissions can go as high as 15%, but most sites will earn the standard 7%. Sales are tracked through unique affiliate IDs, with referral credit being given only if your visitor purchases in the same browsing session as when they linked from your site. Online commission tracking is made available which includes referred sales, and total commissions earned. Affiliates also receive the periodical email updates, which keeps you in touch with any changes to the program, tips on improving sales, and new offers and news. They also sell books, DVDs, movies, and other gifts, all of which you can earn affiliate commissions on.
